This is a website that I made to promote the Hordago Ardoa project. The site is easy to navigate and functions across various platforms including smartphones and tablets. Hordago Ardoa is an innovate and exciting wine tasting project involving live music, poetry and art. The wine tasting is given in Basque and/or Spanish.

The local Christian Surfers group in the Basque Country wanted a slogan to print onto a hoodie. It had to be thought-provoking, relevant and if possible, no longer than three words(!)

I decided upon "Know your shaper". In surfing, a shaper is someone that makes surfboards. From a blank foam, the shaper sands, smoothes, and gives form to the board so that it responds well in the water. As Christians, we believe that God is continually shaping and developing us to make us more into the people that he wants us to be.

In order to get the most out of a surfboard, it is so important for a surfer to talk to their shaper. Similarly, to function better as a Christian, it is absolutely essential to know our maker. James 4:8 says "draw near to God and He will draw near to you". It requires effort on our part, but the reward is there for those willing to seek.

BRIEF: Make a video that will promote the Durango Surf Festival 2012.

SOLUTION: Together with Pello Salaberria, we directed a stop motion photo shoot in the middle of Durango, an inland town with no waves. The locals of this town find it ridiculous that people from Durango surf, and so we took them at their word and proved them wrong by 'surfing' through the town. The shoot took around 3 hours to complete on a cold winter morning in December 2011.

Cross Culture Surf is a cultural exchange programme I have set up together with a friend from Ireland. During Easter 2012 we took a group of 15 Basque students to join 15 Irish students in Lahinch (Ireland) to learn to surf and to share about each other's culture. The Irish group will visit the Basque Country in August 2012.

The programme is in its first year and has already won the support of key organisations such as Gaztea, Aer Lingus, EHSF and Ikastolen Elkartea as well as being granted funding through the European Union Youth in Action scheme.

The Surf Project is a Christian surf ministry based in Ireland. The logo I designed is based on the triquetra, an ancient Irish symbol that depicts the Holy Trinity - the concept of 'three in one' and a never-ending loop. At the centre of the symbol is a perfect wave (Ireland has a lot of these).

CLIENT: Iñigo Garcia (Bizi Bike)
AGENCY: di-da komunikakzioa

Bizibike is a bike shop in Durango and is the local distributor for the folding Brompton bicycles. I designed their logo that needed to reflect a lifestyle choice targeted at city dwellers and urban commuters.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9284/2046626/logoa_5.jpg" width="670" height="400" width_o="670" height_o="400" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9284/2046626/logoa_5_o.jpg" data-mid="10358159" border="0" align="left"/>

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9284/2046626/bcards_1.jpg" width="670" height="400" width_o="670" height_o="400" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9284/2046626/bcards_1_o.jpg" data-mid="10358150" border="0" align="left"/>

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9284/2046626/bike1.jpg" width="670" height="400" width_o="670" height_o="400" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/9284/2046626/bike1_o.jpg" data-mid="10358152" border="0" align="left"/>

The Bizi Bike symbol (below) essentially reflects the following:

• a folding bike concept (object getting smaller)
• "zonal" urban living and commuting
• ecological/positive lifestyle choice

When researching the concept, I found that many towns and cities are designed to the "Burgess and Hoyt" city model, where people live in outer zones and commute to internal zones to work. Bizibike's folding bicyclesare geared toward this kind of commuter (no pun intended), offering a healthier and less stressful mode of transport to alternative methods (car, metro, tram). The symbol lends itself to being used an applied in many different ways.

CLIENT: Zarautz Noseriding Classic presented by Vans

Poster and t-shirt design to promote the Zarautz Noseriding Classic surf competition presented by Vans.

It's always a real pleasure to work on project that resonates from the outset, and this was one of those projects. Working closely with good friends Ion Eizaguirre, Mikel Urigoitia and Mikel Citores, we found a marketing solution that we were all happy with to promote this annual longboard surf competition.
